José van Dijck is a distinguished university professor of Media and Digital Society at Utrecht University. Her research focuses on media, social media and media technologies. From 2015 to 2018 she was president of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). In 2021, she won the Spinoza Prize for her life-time academic achievements.
