Ilse Lazaroms has an MA in Gender Studies from Utrecht University and a PhD in Jewish Studies from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. She has held fellowships at Harvard University, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Central European University, the Institute of Advanced Study in Budapest, and the Center for Jewish History in New York. She has published internationally on Hungarian Jewish studies, East Central European history, literature, and feminist and Gender Studies.
As commissioning editor at AUP, she is interested in receiving proposals in modern history, memory and heritage studies, cultural history, disaster studies, violence studies and the Holocaust, slavery and decolonialism, environmental history, landscape studies, languages and literature, and any proposal that thinks critically and creatively about our world from an historically informed perspective.
