Andrea Talabér holds an MRes in East European Studies from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL and a PhD in history from the European University Institute (Florence). She has held several fellowships including at the Silesian University in Opava, the Masaryk Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the Institute of History, Slovak Academy of Sciences, and the New Europe College in Bucharest, Romania. Andrea has published on national identity, commemorations and the use of the Middle Ages in 20th century history.
As a commissioning editor at CEU Press, she is interested in receiving proposals in medieval and early modern studies, including Byzantine and Ottoman history and the history of science and medicine, as well as in the social and cultural history of 19th- and 20th-century Central Europe and the post-Communist period, including urban history, memory studies, and the history of humanitarianism. Andrea also welcomes proposals with a geographic focus on Central Asia, Eurasia and the Caucasus.
She is also the Managing Editor of the CEU Review of Books.
