The Medieval and Renaissance Book Culture series presents studies related to the culture of writing and reading between 500 and 1600.

The peer-reviewed series explores comprehensive studies of medieval manuscripts and early printed books, focusing on their production, use, readers, and physical appearance. It emphasizes the material features of these books and their significance, highlighting their connections to the cultural, intellectual, and social facets of the medieval and renaissance eras.

The aim is to foster a deeper understanding of how written and printed materials both shaped their cultural contexts and were shaped by them. We particularly welcome studies that analyze the material features of books in relation to their cultural and intellectual contexts.

The Medieval and Renaissance Book Culture series is a book series published by Leiden University Press, and distributed by Amsterdam University Press.
